Client: Personal Project / Competition Entry

    Year: 2026

To create a full narrative sequence for a wordless picture book concept titled “Bruno and the Moon.” The story explores themes of childhood dreams, creative problem-solving, and the magic of friendship in unexpected places. The visual goal was to create a warm, textured atmosphere using dramatic lighting and shadow, with a focus on conveying a wide range of emotions through character acting. This project was developed as a cohesive visual story and submitted to the 2024 Iberoamérica Ilustra competition.

This project was a fascinating journey into the world of the most peculiar animals, and yes, also the most disgusting! Titled “Bichos Superraros y Asquerosos” (meaning “Super-Weird and Gross Bugs”), my mission, commissioned by the Beascoa publishing house (Penguin Random House Group), was to bring these creatures to life for a book aimed at future scientists. It had to be fun, educational, and above all, make kids laugh while they learned!

From the first sketches, the author, Ricardo Moure, and the publishing team were super enthusiastic. I received incredible feedback: ‘What a wonder the sketches are. What a huge laugh and what excitement. Wow, I’m blown away by the drawings. I love them! I laughed a lot and they are very well done. Congratulations on the hard work!!’

This enthusiasm was a great motivator and validated that we were heading in the right direction. There were small adjustments, like refining the turtle for its freshwater habitat, but the result was a quickly approved project, ready to see the light in April 2026. It was a pleasure to combine science and humor!”

This is a very special personal project, What If I Get Lost?, a children’s book I illustrated for an author with the goal of addressing childhood fears with imagination and tenderness. I created a visual universe that ranges from everyday life to outer space, focusing on emotional expression and the connection between mother and daughter. We are currently presenting the project to publishers and competitions.
