📝 Project Description
This project was a true creative collaboration: a Spanish-learning book with a fresh, youthful tone aimed at people who live in Spain but don’t speak Spanish yet—especially foreigners and expats looking for an engaging, accessible way to learn the language.
The author, @spanish.with.vicky, is a well-known Spanish teacher with a large following on Instagram. Her playful and down-to-earth teaching style inspired a book that’s just as dynamic—full of real-life situations, characters, and vocabulary that feels relevant and alive.
The brief included around 92 two-tone illustrations.
Stylistically, the illustrations needed to be flat, clean-lined, and expressive—simple in form, but rich in storytelling. The visual tone was similar to works by Maria Speaks (another author under the Random Comics imprint), combining characters, objects, and everyday scenes in a cohesive and playful visual language.
This project came with tight timelines, and a clear creative vision. It was a joy to be considered for a book with such an inclusive and accessible mission—bringing language learning closer to real life, and to people from many different backgrounds.
